The Remediation and Response Committee will host a series of three virtual events in Fall 2024 in lieu of holding an in-person meeting.

Virtual Meeting 1

Tuesday, September 24, 2024 - PFAS Update

1:00 - 2:30 PM EDT

The Remediation and Response Committee will meet to discuss recent PFAS developments and related compliance and operational considerations for USWAG members.  Topics covered will include:

  • TSCA 8(a) reporting rule for PFAS chemicals
  • Recent CERCLA hazardous substance designation for PFOA, PFOS
  • PFAS destruction and disposal guidance
  • Additional regulatory actions and technical initiatives involving PFAS
  • USWAG’s first-ever PFAS Workshop (planned for Fall 2025)
  • Member roundtable

 

Virtual Meeting 2

Tuesday, October 22, 2024 -Tanks Subcommittee

1:00 - 2:30 PM EDT

The Tanks Subcommittee will hold a virtual meeting to discuss recent regulatory developments and compliance initiatives, including:

  • CWA hazardous substances facility response plan (FRP) requirements
    • Overview of final rule
    • Discussion of member impacts/implementation
  • SPCC developments
  • Subcommittee efforts to address oil-filled cable systems that cross water – update and next steps
  • Member roundtable

 

Virtual Meeting 3

Tuesday, November 12, 2024 - Site Assessment, Clean-up and Liability Issues

The Remediation and Response Committee will meet to discuss developments relevant to the assessment, remediation, and purchase/sale of contaminated properties, including regulatory, liability, operational, and transactional considerations.  Topics covered will include:

  • UWAG Site Cleanup Task Group – Overview, feedback
  • CERCLA liability developments – arranger for disposer liability
  • DOI Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration – Revision to NRDAR rules
  • IRIS developments, upcoming risk assessment activity
  • Member discussion – challenges, regulatory hurdles, lessons learned:
    • Reopeners
    • Vapor intrusion
    • Real property transactions – buyer and seller perspectives
  • Upcoming USWAG Decommissioning Workshop (planned for Fall 2025)
  • Member roundtable
